A worrier, all that I see.

Today, I completed reading one of the wonderful books ever written by Paulo Coelho. I bet, I am the biggest fan of his writings :). His books have a vision which reflects the core of life. It’s not so hard to realize that fiction can be so real. It did able to put a smile on my face. If you guys are thinking about the book's name and want to spend the quality time of yours with some quality reading then it’s your turn now. Before I go on with the book name, I want to share few lines from it that hit me really hard… real goosebumps.

A worrier is always aware of what is worth fighting for. He doesn’t go into combat over things that don’t concern him and he never wastes his time over provocations.

A worrier accepts defeat. He doesn’t treat it as a matter of indifference nor does he attempt to transform it into a victory. The pain of defeat is bitter to him; he suffers at indifference and become desperate with loneliness. After all this has passed, he licks his wounds and begins everything anew. A worrier knows that war is made many battles; he goes on.

Tragedies do happen. We can discover reasons, blame others, imagine how different our lives would be had they not occurred. But none of that is important; they did occur and so be it.From there onward we must put aside the fear that they awoke in us and begin to rebuild ...

“Take advantage of the chance that tragedy has given you; not everyone is capable of doing so.” - The Fifth Mountain

I've always loved the philosophies in Coelho's books. They somehow seem to make sense! But then, his books tend to get very slow and the impatient person that I am, I get the urge to leave the book mid-way. I've read quite a few books of his like Eleven Minutes, Brida, The Alchemist, etc. However, the thirst for philosophies will always keep me coming back to his books. Probably after a few months I might just lay my hands on the Fifth mountain. =)

@ miss pinkilicious – Henna, Welcome here :). Good to see one more ‘Paulo Coelho’ fan. Hey, not to forget “Slow and steady – cuts the rock”.

Do not you think that he person of extreme? Look at the words he is using ... Triumph, battle, warrior, defeat, tragedy, suffer etc etc .. very extremist words !

@jaydip - I don’t think so and definitely he is not... It’s good that you have asked this question, what I see is not those words but the lying message. Somewhere we need to look at beyond what is visible to these eyes or the mind can define it for us, and then making this life beautiful and meaningful is all in our hand.

I wonder whether you have read my subject line. Anyways that might have given you a glimpse of the story, nevertheless the pointer here is that for a person who has lost everything and left with only pain, sufferings and sadness but yet how he was able to make a difference in the way others look at their life. He was able bring back the lost smiles and indeed he was able to challenge all the challenges against him and ultimately able follow his soul.

I read alchemist, i liked it very much ..
than I read reading "Brida", was unable to complete it ..
than warrior of the lights, i liked it a bit but not worth spending 250+ bucks ..
than I read like the flowing river, which is also good because I was fan of Coelho and I had bough this book from roadside ..
at last I read his biography .. from which I got so bored that I will never read any of his books ..
Just think, why was he Chhoose to be involved in things like Black magic, affairs, divorces, jail, going away from family etc etc .. I would say this as characteristics of bad people .. He can not become idle .. one mistake in life is fine.. 2 are ok .. but look how many mistakes he has made.. I have loose my interest in his writings seriously.. he does not seem to be a person with integrity .. he will say one thing at one time and immediately he will violate it .. If his dream was to become a writer, why he went for all those things ? I feel, Coelho has caught a nerve .. and he is keep on pressing it ..

Well, that’s your opinion. I really don’t have to comment now on how someone defines a bad or good character in others.

I have lots of praise for Paulo Coelho’s writings simply because he has the power of imagination and it touches every part of life. No matter what his personal life is, and how many mistakes he has made (that I don’t have any idea), certainly he has seen life very closely then anybody else …

And yes, you are free not to read any book you don’t like :) or maybe sometime you can re-think reading a book once more even if you don’t like.

May be you can read his biography "A confession of a piligrimige" ... He seems to be a lost person ..
I'm sorry to use strong language throughout ..

alok said...

Sure! Will do that... BTW, a person is also lost when he tries to find new ways for himself and probably for others :)

I used to like Coelho's books but after a while, they lost their charm. Or so I felt.

I have this book on my shelf. Must read it :-)

Ash, by now I got to know that people started liking his books initially but then something stops them continuing the same way … I am not sure is it that something is bothering them not to dream about something which is hard to imagine ?

Yes, for sure you can give it a try, as of now I have completed 4 of his books and I liked all of them. Each one had a different vision in them but the common thing in them was - 'to follow your dreams'.

Heared about false promises? Thats what I feel Paulo does. For how long can anyone believe in false promises?
In short I will tell one thing, Life is best when balanced ..And thats what Paulo is not traching but in fact Paulo is teaching other way round ...

Follow your dream by heart fully and someday you are going to be miserable .. because till time you get your dream you must have lost many things... your family .. your friends ... and what not ..

what paulo teaches is to follow your dream .. nothing else .. he is not teaching you to balance it with other things .. in fact he is saying that to achieve your dream you need to abandon everything !
Paulo's books leads people to wrong path ..
Thing is to detect your dream, than follow it .. but not blindly .. You need to balance it with other things in life .. Just to see Pyramid you can not go out of your home and take big big risks, getting nothing in the end ....

Paulo teches about end (dream).. But he does not tech you about means (way) to get over there .. Remember Means and ends both are equally important .. Means and ends has to meet at last ...

@lakshmi – Indeed, it was :)

@ jaydip - Oops!!! I thinking you caught with some wrong notion. And I guess you understood the end part of ‘The Alchemists’ wrongly. Sorry, I am afraid you make any sense here, can somebody able to tell you the ways without following it ? You can only tell what’s wrong or right or what is what only after following it, irrespective of whether you gain something or lose everything. And finally, nothing is balanced unless only you really able to make it.

I know some people can be biased by their incense opinions but spare me with your indifference and I think, I should end this here.
