Adieu!

Walking down the memory lane, I was surprised to see some of the wordless moments that I have captured in my mobile-camera at my office’s WF (Whitefield) campus. It was only on the last day at WF campus that I realized how many things have changed since I first registered my presence here. This January I bid adieu to the place and look at today, now I am all set to capture new moments, gather memories and witness the non-stop world again at the brand new campus.

The unending sky & heavenly sunshine on the way...

I never wanted to let go those moments, they were silently become part of my life and blessed me on many of the occasions.

The years turned black & white, but the memories nevertheless will remain colorful.

The December!

Seconds, minutes, hours and days were passed by me just like that and now when I look back I have already completed living one more year of my life. A year filled with the little pains which helped me to understand what it takes to be alive?, the failures that made me a stronger person than before, the successes that encouraged me keep on moving, and last but not the least a bucket full of memories that reminds me of this journey. So far so good, oh! maybe I don’t have anything to regret for the roads I have travelled, the places I stumbled up on, the paths I crossed, the people I met on my way, for the life I learned to live and appreciate whatever happens is for some reasons in our lives and only then we able to identify what actually we are & then the dreams are not too far from the reality.

The reality I live, I have always told myself that the world is nothing more or less than the image that you can create for yourself out of it. It’s my own world and I cherish every moment spent here. Looking at the retiring calendar hanging on the right hand side of my room’s wall, year after year, I have learned that each one of them has a purpose in it for us, to accomplish certain things that will determine where we are heading for … There was one such day for everyone of us to recognize that we have done something not just to prove anybody else then ourselves, followed by a quick realization that still a long way to go but you have taken the much needed step for it. Possibly, I can recall one such day of this year. I maybe blessed on many occasions but certainly the beginning of this year unveiled me a darker side of the life where I struggled to fight back for quite sometime before I could accept the impossible truth that there exists no life beyond your own imagination. Nevertheless, the beauty of life is that it demands from you only the strength you posses. A flash moment in life and then happened a series of good things here and there which eventually became part of the rollercoaster ride I am on.

Personally, I would like to count the year 2008 for everything that can come to my mind, a mixed bag. And with the countdown for the New Year 2009 is already started, amidst the global economic meltdown and around the chaos of terror attacks, finally found some reasons to cheer up and we at workplace celebrated this December together.

So I am hoping & wishing you all Merry Christmas and a very happy & prosperous New Year in advance.

P.S : I am back to business & gradually recovering from the bloody cold.

A daY ShOrt cUt !!!

A very important software application, intermittently crash , an important customer, one critical issue, multiple memory violations, 6 engineers, 180 days, thousands & thousands lines of code, 150 e-mails, uncountable no. of discussions, failed attempts, attitude, superiority, seniority, credibility, silence, concerns, questions, frustration, patience … but it remained all the same that as an issue.

And finally one day a silly me, gave one stupid solution! and smiles on everybody's faces back again. Wow! and for me an appreciation mail.

Life goes one with everything that we have and everything that we don’t have, e.g. stupidity and intelligence. :P

You say - "woes of a software programmer" or whatever, life is like that :)

When will be the today?

Sometime, I wonder some people really don’t live their present and they always live with a hope of tomorrow. The whole point here is why wasting all your good time by giving it to such people? You can't really help it.

An Interview that happened today :-

Interviewer (starting with the first question) : How much rating you will give to your C Programming skill in the scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest score).

Candidate (very thoughtful posture with her ever slow accent) : I want two days of time to rate myself.

Interviewer (wondering about what answer is this, two days ...) : Is that so difficult? You can rate yourself as of today, wouldn’t you?

Candidate (still thinking, hiding her confusion) : Right now I rate myself 2 but if you can give me two days of time then I would like to rate myself 5.

Interviewer (trying to clear the confusion about rating) : you are rating low on the day of Interview and expecting a good rating after two days? Hope you are prepared for today. Moreover, you have mentioned in your CV that you have one year of Industry experience.

Candidate (with a blank gaze) : I mean, I can still do better...

Interviewer (thinking to pick the most simple question) : Okay, we will start then ….

What is the return type of printf() function?

Candidate (charging up) : I don’t think prinft() function returns any value because its used to print the characters.

Interviewer (no reaction to the stupid answer, going ahead with the next question) : What is a pointer?

Candidate (thinking her first answer is correct, gaining back her confidence – answering quickly) : Pointer is used to fetch data from database.

Interviewer (enough for the day, wondering from where this database came into picture) : Ok, so we are done !! Thanks for your time here today with us. Any question from your side that you would like to ask us?

Candidate (with a wide smile) : No, I don’t have any question. Thank you!

Interviewer (copying the same wide smile on his face, still wondering … ) : Sure!

And finally, after the candidate left the room; he pulled the feedback form and started laughing while drawing the biggest ZERO, till now on an A4 Sheet.

Is that the time or the attitude or the untold effort that mark the difference between today and tomorrow? Perhaps, its mix of all of them and just waiting/wanting for the time or passing by the time wouldn’t bring any changes someone like to see.

Some good things…

There were those few moments in life where someone can actually realizes the importance or the meaning of a day. As said, somebody change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they're right. When I look back; I see all of them on the trace path, ever so long yet incomplete ...

Well! there was one such moment for me and I want to share that with all of you here. Thursday, I received the ‘Best performer in the team' award at my work place. I was glad to see it in my hands :). No doubt it has given me a new direction for striving the best out of me. I have this realization that its a continuous process of involving self in the exponential curve of learning. Finally, I have only one thing to say 'Thank You' for giving me this opportunity.

A reason to volunteer !!!

Every year around this time there are events at my work place where somebody can be associate himself voluntarily for any of the project which probably holds a strong message "A day for a better today & tomorrow".

I registered myself with one such project, and the motto of the project was ‘A green & clean environment’. My inclination towards nature encouraged me to participate in this particular event and otherwise an interesting project. There were quite a few things that was actually happening at the ground level to address different environmental issues and thus a chance for people like me to put hands together to contribute with whatever small way we can.

This project was part of ‘Oracle Global Volunteer Days’. The whole idea of this project was something like - “Picking up plastics /segregate and collecting them, and then handed over the collected plastics to a company called K.K. Plastics that would recycle it. The project also involves speaking to local people and tourists about the ill effects of plastics on the environment”. Adarsh was the lead for the project backing up by the entire team of 70 plus people.

It was a well planned event, with enough time on our hands and everyone had an idea what they were supposed to do on that day. I started my day at around 5.15 AM and by that time I was like almost ready for the trip, which means before sunrise :). Joe and I took the bike and reached OTP, that was the meeting place for all of us. Anand another friend of mine was already there to join the team. Finally, the bus started from OTP around 6.30 AM. I have had already heard a lot about this place; as far as I know it’s one of the most happening picnic spot situated around 110 Kms away from Bangalore, it is called Muthathi. The Project team consisting of some senior volunteers from a group called ‘Clean & Green’ to guide and help us through out the event. Sandeep started with the do's and don't do's and told us what exactly need to be done. And Rupa another volunteer member co-coordinating the process, I had an interaction with her and she encouraged us to continue in every small way to protect/conserve our beautiful nature. There were lots of concerns for littering and we were there to witness that... Nevertheless its good that some people extended their support to create the awareness among the people to stop littering. In between the break, I got some time to play around with my camera and there you go with pictures of this beautiful place.

A closer view of the river Cauvery, that attracts most of the tourist over there.

All types of tourist with all different types of vehicle find their way to this place. You can see the guy, he had lots of questions for me and he was very curious to know why we all gathered at this place. Somehow I managed to convey him although I don't know his language (Kananda) and then a different smile on his face.

I guess they too enjoyed our presence :)

It was around at 2.00 PM that we gathered at our command post to conclude our day's work. I was completely amazed, if like minded people put their hands together then they can easily accomplish any difficult tasks. The numbers were out 70 people collected 306 K.G of plastics in a matter of 1 and half an hour of time.

The GVD - Save Muthathi Team, cheering for their achievement!!

After that we started towards a near by forest office camp for our, and there we had a some delicious south Indian lunch followed by relaxing break near the Cauvery. The entire team was there to discuss about the whole episode and to take back some of the lessons from it, then there was also a feedback session and some photo shot. There were good number of photographers in the team and so did the number of clicks :)

Here goes some more random clicks ...

Also there was some briefing from the forest officials and I was happy to see that hey too are working towards some solutions, otherwise the difficult tasks. The good thing out there was the govt. officials are closely working with the corporate and trying to minimize their set of constraints while taking up the responsibilities.

Back to B’lr at around 8.30 P.M. with some lessons of the day. The message was pretty much clear 'Stop littering', and now my effort would be to spread the message across my friends/groups, at least to create the awareness about our environmental responsibilities

Most of the time we try to attack big issues which are consequence of smaller issues like this one and now the effort should, at least, to take one step forward to attack it on the first hand. That reminds me a molecule is made up of several atoms and each atom can make a world of difference!!!
